Central Scotland MSP Margaret Mitchell, visited Boots Pharmacy at Hillhouse Road, Hamilton and met with area manager, Oonagh, and store manager, Sarah.
During her visit the MSP learned of the great things the pharmacy is doing in the local community and the opportunities they provide to trainee pharmacists.
The store supports local health board initiatives, acts as a food bank collection point, and partners with a charity to provide career development talks and mock interviews to support young people.
It’s little wonder that the team at the Hillhouse won Store of the Year in the Boots Best of the Best awards, and was nominated for ‘Pharmacy Team of the Year’ at the Chemist & Druggist Awards earlier this year.
Commenting Central Scotland and Scottish Conservative MSP Margaret Mitchell said:
“It was pleasure to meet up with the team at Boots in Hillhouse who work tirelessly to provide a first-class service to the community.
“Both Sarah, and fellow manager Chloe, oversee a staff of 12 in the recently refurbished store.
“Clearly this is a dedicated team so it was really great that their efforts have been recognised.
“I believe that by giving community pharmacists access to appropriate patient records, and more autonomy over prescriptions, residents may be better served by all pharmacies to meet their health care needs.
“In the meantime, the staff at Boots on Hillhouse Road continue do fantastic work for their local community and fully deserving of the awards they have received
